!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I've found this Porsche 944 for $2,300 and I have enough. Do you guys think this would be worth purchasing as my first car?

Seems a bit sketchy...i wouldn't take one that was that badly damaged though without any pics of what it looks like now.

Hmm, 944s can be tricky. I would have a GOOD look at it with someone who knows them. Take it to a Porsche shop, they are nice cars but make sure its not a money pit. A good first car might be a similar type of sport coupe, but Japanese.

It'd need a pretty thorough inspection, it's a great price but for a first car you might find your self taking the bus pretty quick when it's broken down.
It sounds really cool owning a Porsche but you might wanna think a little more practical for a first timer, either go the import route or something like an early 2000s Mustang. Either of those should run in at around 2-3k
Me personally? a C5 or B5 Audi, but I'm admittedly biased.

Your local PCA (Porsche club of America) chapter might be able to help to get the car looked over, with either a reference or a member with some time to look it over.

that particular one maybe not although a fender swap is fairly simple crash damage can definitely be tricky. As a first car I definitely recommend a 944. They're fun cars that handle great but don't have enough power to get you into serious trouble, the 5 speed manual is exquisite, the badge helps with people who don't know cars (specifically the fairer sex), the seats are ridiculously comfortable, and it has a surprising amount of room. I bought mine as my first car two years ago and love it too death.

The damage is the only thing that worries me. Also there's not many in my area in my budget that don't have some other issue or are now part cars. I want one badly but can't seem to find one. I might ask for pictures of the car now so I can see how bad the car really is.

Ehh, if they admit it's been crashed, I probably wouldn't mess with it.

I see you're from the CapDistrict/Upstate NY area, in which case if you can find a bit more cash, this 944 would make you a hit with your classmates :)

Just ask mom or dad to insure it!

while your at it make sure the timing belt and water pump have been changed recently. If you an spare the money id also suggest getting it checked out by a certified porsche mechanic you may be able to recoup some of that money by using the issues he finds to lower the price. Best of luck

the 944 is an excellent car, I've never looked into body panels for them though. Once I get the manual swap for my car I am definitely looking into a 944 or Datsun 240z.
